DALLIN BRUUN THERAPY LLC A tray, a story, a way through

What happens in the room

Services

Six kinds of work are kept on the shelf at DALLIN BRUUN THERAPY LLC. Each one uses the tray, the figures and the conversation in its own proportion, and each is shaped around the person or family in front of it.

DALLIN BRUUN THERAPY LLC opens its autumn evening slots for new clients.

Sand Tray

Sand Tray Therapy

Sand tray therapy gives a person a shallow wooden tray, a measure of fine sand and a shelf of miniature figures, and then steps back to let the hands lead. There is no correct way to build a world. A client might sculpt a coastline, bury a figure, place a bridge between two uncertain banks or leave a wide empty field in the centre. Each choice is a piece of meaning that the body knows before the mind can say it.

In session the therapist stays alongside rather than in front, asking open questions about what the scene might be showing. Over weeks the trays accumulate into a kind of journal in sand, and themes surface that a direct conversation might have kept hidden. This method is especially useful for clients who feel stuck in words, who carry grief, or who have experienced something that resists a plain narrative.

Sand tray therapy is often woven into other work at the practice, but it can also stand alone as the primary form of a session. Clients are never required to interpret a tray aloud until they are ready. Book a session to begin.

Talk

Individual Talk Therapy

Individual talk therapy is a steady weekly hour devoted to one person and one honest thread of thought. The client brings whatever is loudest that week, and the therapist helps to slow it down, name its parts and trace where it came from. The method is grounded, collaborative and free of jargon. You will not be handed a script or told how to feel.

Much of the work is simply having a room where nothing has to be performed. Clients often arrive tense and leave with one clear next step, or with the relief of having finally said a thing out loud. Sessions may include brief grounding exercises when anxiety spikes, and they may pull in the sand tray when a feeling is easier to build than to describe.

This service suits adults navigating stress, low mood, relationship strain, work pressure or a general sense that something is off. Progress is reviewed together every few weeks so the work stays pointed at what matters most to you. Reach out at booking@dallinbruuntherapy.lat to start.

Ground

Teen Counseling

Teen counseling creates an hour that belongs to the young person and nobody else. Adolescence is loud with change, and much of it is felt before it can be framed. In this room a teenager can talk, build in the sand, or sit quietly until the right words show up. There is no pressure to produce a feeling on command.

The work commonly covers identity, school pressure, friendship and social strain, family friction, self worth and the anxious buzz that comes with constant comparison. The therapist is frank and warm rather than preachy, and treats the teen as the expert on their own life. Where sand is used, the tray often reveals the shape of a week faster than a question could.

Parents are offered periodic updates on the general direction of the work while the private content of sessions stays with the teen, which keeps trust intact. If your family is in a hard season, a first conversation can be arranged through the contact page.

Family

Family Sessions

Family sessions bring a household into one room and one shared tray. Each member is invited to place a figure, and the arrangement that results shows the family its own shape: who stands near whom, where the gaps are, and which figure is carrying the most weight. Seeing that picture together often does more than an hour of accusation ever could.

From there the work turns practical. We practice hearing one another without interrupting, we name patterns that repeat, and we agree on small changes that can hold at home. The therapist keeps the room safe enough for hard truths and does not allow any member to become the problem. Every person in the family is treated as both a contributor and a person in need of care.

Sessions may be arranged for a parent and one child, for siblings, or for the whole household. Families often alternate between shared sessions and individual hours, and that rhythm is decided together. Call +15303235734 or write to booking@dallinbruuntherapy.lat to discuss the right format.

In Session

Anxiety and Stress Work

Anxiety and stress work begins with the body, because that is where anxiety lives first. Racing heart, tight chest, shallow breath and a mind that will not stop planning are not character flaws but a nervous system stuck in high gear. The work here is to help that system come down and stay down for longer stretches.

Sessions combine practical tools with deeper exploration. We map the triggers and the early warning signs, practice grounding and breath techniques that work in real life, and examine the beliefs that keep the alarm switched on. The sand tray is used often in this work, because arranging a scene is itself a regulating act that slows the hands and quiets the spinning mind.

Clients leave with routines to try between sessions and a clear sense of what to do when a wave rises. Over time the wave arrives less often and passes more quickly. This service is available to adults and teens alike. Book a session or ask a question first at booking@dallinbruuntherapy.lat.

Transitions

Life Transitions

Life transitions are the crossings that ask a person to become someone new while the old self is still speaking. A move, a graduation, a new job, a first child, a divorce, a retirement, an empty home or the loss of someone central all carry this double weight. The work here gives the crossing a witness, a map and a pace that does not rush the grief.

In session we name what is being left behind, honour it properly, and then build the footing for what comes next. The tray is especially powerful in this work, because a client can physically place the old chapter and the new one in the same landscape and see how they sit beside each other. Bridges, doors and paths appear again and again for a reason.

There is no deadline for a transition, and no rule that says it must be handled alone. Whether the change is chosen or unexpected, this service offers a steady place to stand while the ground shifts. Return to the top of services or reach out through the contact page to begin.

How the work unfolds

A simple path through the room

01

First contact

You send a message or call the practice. We set a time and ask only what is needed to prepare for your first hour.

02

First session

We meet, talk about what brought you in, and decide together whether sand, words or a mix will serve you best. Nothing is forced.

03

Steady weeks

We meet regularly at a rhythm that fits your life. Each session builds on the last, and the trays and notes become a record of the journey.

04

Review and adjust

Every few weeks we step back and ask what is working. The plan changes as you change, and you always hold the steering.

05

Toward the way through

When the work has done its job, we plan a thoughtful close and leave the door open for future seasons. The shelf is always here.
